The Mackie HR824 Active Studio Monitors are a revelation. The stereo sound field is wide, deep and incredibly detailed. Clean highs / mids and the low frequencies are no more / no less than what you've recorded, very accurate. You can hear detailed and distinct tonal qualities (and harmonic quantities) of a bass instrument, instead of generic bass tone. The HR824's sound like the output of your mixer without coloration. The soundstage is nice, broad and FLAT. These are built like a brickS#$^@^& house.
Low Freq driver is an 8.57" magnesium frame, polypropylene core with oversized magnet structure. High Freq is a 1" viscous edge-damped aluminum cone. Passive radiator 6 x 12". Max peak SPL per pair 121 dB. Wood construction, not plastic. If you're looking for honest studio monitors that enable you to hear exactly what's recorded, then these belong in your studio!
They have been babied, project studio use only in environmentally controlled studio.
